SymbianSTAR Forum Rules 2008

We are pleased to have you here.
Like any forum, there are a set of rules to be followed, so here goes...

1) XXX Content

Absolutely NO XXX content allowed anywhere in SymbianSTAR.
All Applications, Games, Themes, Videos, Ringtones & everything else posted in SymbianSTAR should be free of XXX content.

What do we mean by No XXX content allowed:-

"No XXX content allowed" means that Adults materials are not allowed, and adults materials starts from Bikini models up to Porn materials.



2) Reputation

Do Not ask/request/demand members to add reputation to your post.
If members like your post then they will decide themselves whether to rep you or not.

No where in your post should there be even a hint that you are asking for reputation points.



3) Spamming

Spamming is strictly prohibited in SymbianSTAR
SPAM is an acronym for "Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages".
It will not only cause more work for the staff but you will also bring down on yourself a bad reputation. Only post when necessary and all your post should be meaningful.

Check below to see which posts comes into this category :


A post with 2 or less words
A post which is illegible
A post that makes no sense
A post with only smilies
A post with excessive use of smilies
A post with excessive use of caps (shouting)
A post "advertising" other free hosts
A post with only question/exclamation-marks
A post with excessive use of question/exclamation-marks
A post with no relavance to the subject
A post only stating that the previous poster is spamming
A post which contains xxx contents
A post repeated in same thread
A post repeated in other threads(cross-posting)
A post which is meant to insult or hurt other member's sentiments
A post with links to websites or services, not relavant to the topic
A post with no explanation of why or why not you like/do/want/etc. something
A post with links to websites or services, of which you have undisclosed affiliation
A post for no apparent reason, other than increase post count
A new thread, identical to what someone else have already started in that forum
A new thread, without a proper subject description
A post insulting or hurting any other member by means of words, pictures or graphics is also spamming.

If you see someone spamming, please refrain from pointing it out by posting about it because you will be spamming too. Use the REPORT button to inform a Moderator about it.

4) Double Post

SymbianSTAR has provided you with a search function so please make the full use of it.

Always search before posting anything new to avoid any double post.

5) Advertisements

Absolutely NO ADS in any form allowed anywhere in SymbianSTAR

6) Other Mobile Site/Forums

Do not even mention about any other similar mobile site/forums anywhere in SymbianSTAR

Links, Ads, Graphics promoting another mobile site/forum or even mentioning the name of any other similar mobile site/forum is banned. Offenders will be dealt with severely.

7) Flaming

Flaming is the act of sending or posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. Such messages are called flames, and are sometimes posted in response to flamebait. The word flaming is also sometimes used for long, intensive and heated discussions, even though insults do not occur. It is noted that Internet users are more likelyto flame online than insult others in the real world, as the latter can lead to embarrassment and physical altercations, which online "anonymity" can avoid. However, others urge against flaming, citing that people on the other side "have feelings too."

Reasons Why Not To Flame :

You do not get an advantage from flaming. Your anger might be cooled down temporarily, but it will only be brought back worse later when you are warned & -repped for your flaming. You might get your account suspended for some hours or you could also get your account suspended for some days depending on the extent of the damage done. In this case you cannot even enter MobilesMania.

Not to mention that you will get a bad name amongst members if you get warned for flaming. People will look down on you and will not treat you with respect, because you are a flamer ...

Do you want to remain long in SymbianSTAR? If yes, then flaming is not an option.

Are you flamed at first? Then don't flame back to that person, but simply use the REPORT button.

To sum it all up, do NOT flame, never, not even when you don't start it, you WILL get punished for your actions and there are no exceptions.

Hope this warning is enough to help you understand the consequenses of Flaming.



8) Email Address

No email address allowed to be posted anywhere in the forum.
If you want to trade email addresses of someone then PM system is available.



9) Signature

Only 1 Signature allowed per member (Staff is exempted from this rule).
Image should not be bigger than 450 (width) x 150 (height) pixels.
No mobile site/forum link, XXX link or any email address allowed in your signature.

10) Rar/Zip file Password

No vulgar words, url or name of similar mobile site/forum allowed to be set as password!
Other than that, you are free to put anything as password.

11) Respect

Respect towards all members including Staff members is vital. Since the forum is for your benefit, we expect your respect for the forum in return. Respect other people's opinions, although it may differ from yours. Abusive, threatning, hateful, obscence or racist behaviour has no place in this forum. Anyone found guilty of this offence will be punished severely.

12) Miscellenous Rules

- Discussion about Hacking is Not allowed.
- Always try to upload files on SymbianSTAR server.
- If you need any help then always post in the Help Section.
- Make sure that you test all your links before you post them.
- Posts containing only thanks are considered as spam & is not allowed.
- Only English should be used to converse in SymbianSTAR(Special Forums exempted).
- Do not use the same avatar or signature which is already being used by another member.
- If you have made a topic & there were no replies, then do not go & make another topic on it.
- Do Not request for an application or game to be cracked. They will be posted as soon as they are available.

13) Rules For Posting

- All Posts MUST be made in the appropriate section. For example, Do not make posts related to Symbian Series 60 Games in the Symbian Series 60 Applications Forum.
- All Posts of Mobile Applications/Games/Themes/Videos/Audios & Ringtones etc MUST have an appropriate title.
- Release Team of Mobile Applications/Games should be stated in the post.
- A file description MUST be posted.
- State handsets compatability listing and/or which handset the Application/Game was tested on if done.
- Screenshots are a MUST.
- Mobile games or applications name should not contain any Dots (.) in between them.
- Demo/Trials are not allowed.
- Make sure the file being posted was NOT posted before. Use the SEARCH function to verify it.
- Do not claim others works as your own! Give credit to the proper person.
- Do not include any other similar mobile site/forum's ads in the form of .txt, .html, .nfo, filename or any graphics within your download.
- A title is must when posting a Tone, App or Games. Posts without title will be liable to be edited and Member will be warned...

To SymbianSTAR Members:-

If you logged in to SymbianSTAR and found out that you can't post, suspended or banned, then it could because one of the following reasons:-

14) Reasons For Posting Disability:-

1) It will be disabled for one week to any one who caught spamming with "Thank You" replies.

2) It will be disabled for two weeks to any one who caught spamming with "Meanless" replies.

3) It will be disabled for three weeks to any one who caught double posting in purpose.

4) It will be disabled for four weeks to any one who caught posting the same topic in several sections.

5) It will be disabled for five weeks to any one who caught requesting adult materials.

15) Reasons For Suspending:-

1) It will be made for one week to any one that starts flaming on other members.

2) It will be made for one month to any one that spams with non-mobile related sites.

3) It will be made for two months to any one that send PM's with bad words to others.

4) It will be made for three months to any one that his/her warn level reach 50%.

5) It will be made for one year to any one that register only for advertising.

16) Reasons For Banning:-

1) It will be done to any one who post a porn related materials.

2) It will be done to any one who advertise for other mobiles sites.

3) It will be done to any one who his/her warn level reachs 90%.

17) About the report button:-

Any one that use the report button to make a request, will be warned.


18) Religion

No More discussing about Religions anywhere in this Forum!
SymbianSTAR is Mobile Forum, where Religion of Members doesn't matter.
If we find any member talking about Religions (direct Banned).

19) Others


1. Using the private message system or e-mail form to harass or threaten other SymbianSTAR members.
2. Sending spam, commercial announcements via the e-mail or PM system products.
3. Sending unsolicited links to pornographic or other inappropriate content.
4. Links to outside files.
5. Selling anything.
